Actually every single cell in our bodies is completely new in one year not just changed but replaced, so we are in fact completely renewed. The reason we remain similar is each cell remembers as does out mind so our cells hold on to similarities and our minds hold on the the pain or happiness of the past. The eternal part of us is the soul, the energy of us that lives for ever. This soul can reincarnate into other physicality's (or bodies/lifetimes)
The purpose for this is that we do eventually return to the collective whole energy but only after we have ascended within each lifetime. IE we are here to learn to grow and become the spiritual beings that energetically we really are!
This can never be taken for granted - not only that but life will provide us chances to learn even if we do start taking things for granted, it wont be for long!

Such a thing, this nonphysical component of being, is something that every culture BELIEVEs in, and thats the point, its about belief. That nonphysical part is inaccessible to science.
Its cant be confirmed or denied.
So all we have are much less reliable measurements of this idea that come through human beings.
If you ask a Hindu, the purpose of reincarnation is not a multitude of lifetimes... it is to end reincarnation and become united with the Brahma, the universal lifegiving spirit. According to hindus, from whom your idea "reincarnation" comes from, the moral behavior of a person has the greatest impact on this "being". Its state only has meaning in the context of community... because morality and ethics only have meaning within the context of community.
Thats something to think about.

hello:}
yes there is truth to the fact every cell changes continually but it takes approximately 7 years for every cell to change .therefore you will notice throughout your life that your taste changes, things you use to like or use to tolerate no longer are the same ,allergies can develop etc etc .
this has nothing to do with reincarnation ,reincarnation is the belief that the soul is eternal and that it can have many physical lives .
if your interested in that sort of thing pick up the book past life future healings from Sylvia brown it is a fascinating and interesting book and might help you if your interested in learning about reincarnation at all .

Partially, if you think that way.
Certainly the body as a mere vessel has been discussed for centuries. The spirit (or soul) cannot be destroyed. But what happens to it after death, whether you get right back on the ride or ascend into the heavens for your eternal reward, is as the heart of reincarnation.
Some faiths do not embrace it; other have it part and parcel of the faith.

I do not take it for granted , if a person were to read the scriptures with guidance from the holy spirit, {you need only ask prayerfully}, the answers are in the Holy bible.
The exact answer to your question, The one who can show you how to find the answer yourself is Jesus Christ.
One description of Christ is Omniscient. the word means all knowng. do you see the word science in that word. Another is Omnipresent, always present.
Omnipotent, all strength.
I hope that you can blieve this because it is the ultimate answer.

everyone has a soul. the belief in the afterlife suggests that when we die our soul is freed from our body and taken to heaven or hell to begin a new life! our body is just a way of transport to accquire knowledge and experience for our next life. this is what ghosts are believed to be, spirits trapped after death because they haven't finished something important on earth. there is more to life than death, and more to death than the end!

There can also be another explanation for how and where the 'being' exists. As it exists now...spirit...it continues to exist...spirit vibration.
