In other words: is it a good season for them? The weather in the last months will have great influence, but i don't know in what way.
Would it be a good year to go on campsites in Ireland in this view or should i better try a later year?
(We are NOT going to visit pubs, that would not be an alternative if midges would show up by the billions.)

Go for it. Midges are not big in Ireland, esp. near the west coast!

yea the weather is good for camping at the moment.there are not that many midges in Ireland

There are no mosquitoes in Ireland and you can buy a spray for the midgets in a chemists

No , not many at all, mozzies are not really a big issue here. and its an excellent time of year to camp!
