May I be so bold as to offer you some advise. Inground pools are a money-eating, near-irreversable pain in the ***. My boss is constantly FUMING over his pool. It's always dirty, needing repairs, and adjusting the chemistry, plus the twice-a-year visits from the pool company if you live in an area where the pool is out-of-commission for the winter.
So when considering costs, consider maintenance costs, and the effect on you home's resale value. A lot of people do not want a pool because they've had bad experiences. An above ground pool may be considerably less expensive to you in the long run.

RE:
How much does it cost to put in an inground pool?
I've done some research but cant find an estimate, I dont want to call a pool company quite yet as I wont be ready for a few months. I was thinking one of the fiberglass drop in's, not the concrete kind. Just a small to medium size with a concrete decking around it. Anyone know of a good...

I hate to give you this answer but sometimes it depends where in the country you live. For instant southern states tend to be a bit more because the ground is so hard. I live in Texas and I was quoted "under 20 grand" for a med. size fiberglass pool with 3 feet of concrete patio around the perimeter. (takes about 3 wks. from start to finish)
If you're handy at all, consider an in ground pool kit. It's like putting together an above ground pool but in the ground. They usually have steel walls and a vinyl liner and are designed to be put in the ground. You can get one for around $5,000 depending on size and shape. You could hire someone to dig the hole for you, or most kits come with very good instructions for how to do it yourself.
We just rented a back hoe and put our above ground pool in the ground and have had no problems at all. Of course if you use this technique you should tar all the parts that come in contact with the ground to prevent rust. This isn't necessary with an in ground kit.
Hope that helps. FYI....you can get an in ground kit on eBay and they usually have free curb-side delivery.
