I would say about halfway between to the two would be around Durham or Greensboro. One person would head from Murhpy using 74 to I-40 to get to Greensboro or Durham. The other person would take I-85 down. It should be about 7 hours for each person. Use mapquest.com or map.google.com to figure out exactly how you want to go. I would suggest picking some restaurant or place where one person can wait in case they arrive early. Hope this helps!

It's right around 590 miles, so midway between Durham and Greensboro. That's taking I-95, I-85 and I-40.
