Well just sit them down and say,"Hey mom and dad I've been very responsible around the house doing lots of jobs. Can I please have a chance at caring for another dog?" Just see what they say.

I am a mom and here is my question to you. A side from walking it and feeding it. Do you have a job, do you plan on taking it to the vet. Will you be there with the dog if it is sick. It may not even be about you. Dogs and any animal for that matter is NOT just a pet that can be bought then when you want to show you can take care of something. Because once you start failing at it they will end up taking it to a shelter. SHELTERS KILL. Bottom line. If you can't take care of an animal or your parents can't take care of them financially YOU DO NOT NEED ONE!!! Buy a hamster. Dogs are like children they need love, a home, vet care and good food. And unless your parents feel that they can do this then try being responsible for a smaller animal first.

I agree, grow up, get a job and your own place. If your last dog ran away and wasn't found maybe your parents don't want another dog. Cleaning the house won't convince your parents you're ready to care of a pet because they're the ones that will have the expense of vetting the dog, feeding the dog, grooming the dog, etc. So grow up first.

I feel so old when I see questions like this!
Most dogs live 10 to 20 years. Add that to your age now, and think about it. Kiddo, there is no best friend that is as loyal as a dog, but on the other hand this dog will take are and commitment. Being there for companionship and to let it out twice a day. If you go to college, will you leave your dog?

Animals are wonderful! They require a long term commitment, and if you are still with your parents, maybe they are right about this

Show responsibility in other things at home.. No parent would want to seriously risk having to clean up mess left behind by a dog.. It's really troublesome.. So you have to make them believe that you are responsible enough..

Prepare yourself to be an independent and financially stable adult and as soon as you leave your parents house to live on your own, you can get yourself a dog.

You should probably just confront them and tell them that you think you can handle the responsibility. They might have noticed you trying to convince them but not known what you were trying to do. If you tell them you're ready for it, you can try to prove it to them and you'll be sure they'll notice. [=
