If You're Overweight, Slim Down for Better Health
Overweight people have an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and other illnesses. Losing weight reduces the risk. This brochure tells you how to lose weight safely.

Ask Your Doctor About Sensible Goals
Your doctor or other health worker can help you set sensible goals based on a proper weight for your height, build and age.

Men and very active women may need up to 2,500 calories daily. Other women and inactive men need only about 2,000 calories daily. A safe plan is to eat 300 to 500 fewer calories a day to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week.

Exercise 30 Minutes
Do at least 30 minutes of exercise, like brisk walking, most days of the week.

The idea is to use up more calories than you eat. You need to use up the day's calories and some of the calories stored in your body fat.

Eat Less Fat and Sugar
This will help you cut calories. Fried foods and fatty desserts can quickly use up a day's calories. And these foods may not provide the other nutrients you need.

Make sure your other foods that day are low in fat and calories.

Eat a Wide Variety Of Foods
Variety in the diet helps you get all the vitamins and other nutrients you need.

Watch Out for Promises of Quick And Easy Weight Loss
Fad diets aren't good because they often call for too much or too little of one type of food. As a result, you may not get important nutrients you need daily.

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true.

What About Diet Pills?
Diet pills you buy without a prescription won't make a big difference in how much you lose each week or how long you keep the weight off. If you do use them, read the label carefully. Because of possible side effects, like high blood pressure, never take more than the listed dose.

Also, be careful about taking cough or cold medicines with diet pills you buy without a prescription. These medicines may contain the same drug used in diet pills, or a similar drug with the same effects. If you take both products together, you may get too much of the same type of drug. This can hurt you.

Before taking a cough or cold medicine while using diet pills, ask your pharmacist if it's OK.

Prescription diet pills may help some people. If you use them, follow the doctor's directions carefully.

try studying a new language. As of Jan 5 or so I am 35 pounds lighter...and still loosing...it's all from stress of the new language.

SERIOUSLY: 120 for 5'4" is a good weight. I am 5"4" and about 135. But i'm also a bit older than you. In my picture I'm still not yet studying language seriously...:-)
Your bmi at 120 is good still but any lighter gets to be too light and you can have serious side effects. When i was in college i weighted anywhere between 105-120. When at 105 i was not very healthy; got sick easy; cannot give blood under 110 did you know???

Get that dress a size 6 but make it a beautiful one...you'lll look better than when skinnier

This is not intended to be an insult but your nuts. 5'4 and 120lbs is not over weight. That aside...do a lot of cardio, eat 5 to 6 small portions of food per day to keep your metabolism working properly and drink at least 10 cups of water a day. If you are drinking milk make sure it's non-fat, cut out as much sugar and salt from your diet as possible. Check out bodyforlife.com and read Bill Phillips book Body For Life for a more in depth explanation on how to feed and exercise your body.

When you take into consideration your height and age, according to the weight you mentioned, medically speaking, you are where you should be. You could loose about 10 pounds if it was really neccessary, and still be considered healthy. . But if you do more than that you risk causing serious harm to your body. You may want to try drinking just water, milk is OK but still has a lot of fat in it, unless it's skim milk. Maintain a healthy eating schedule! Protein (hard boiled eggs) for breakfast, salad with lots of veggies for lunch and just a smidge of low-cal dressing, and a sensible dinner. . . like grilled boneless skinless chicken breast and salad. And of course, keep up the exercise, if nothing else, you will maintain where you're at.

Eat a lot of vegetables, fruits and do a lot of cardio exercises at the gym. Forget all the other stuff people say which will not help. Trust me Cardio is the key and you need to go 5 times a week. You can do it. Good luck!

5' 4" and 120 is just right.
Keep in mind, that by working out, you have probably gained some muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat. You should talk to someone if your body image is poor.

Try a cleansing diet! I tried this and lost 10.5 pounds and 17 inches in 9 days. Then I continued it and lost 25 pounds in 5 weeks. This program works to remove the toxins in the body that are stored in the fat cells. You cannot get rid of the fat cells unless you get rid of the toxins. We get toxins from pesticides, preservatives, fast food additives, chemicals, pollution, smoke etc… This was my first experience with cleansing and it worked wonderful! You can order at 1-877-587-4647. It is not a cheap program, but it works and is worth every penny!
