You're right, it doesn't matter, but the announcers who say "-choor" normally, say "-toor" vis-a-vis golf. It's just a question :)

probably just a different pronounciation depending on who is announcing, english is spoken in many different ways you know.

It's now pronounced "[short a] AH-middur." Crazy golf lingo, inventing snobby pronunciations for some esoteric reason. Snce amateur is a French word, you know that Brits waste NO time mispronouncing it!

I think its just a question of dialects. in the states we have announcers from all over our country and an assortment of aussies, brits and new zealanders. i'd bet none of them say it the same.
