My hair is straight, past my shoulders and REALLY thick. The front is a little bit layered but the rest is cut evenly. I want to keep that style but I have split ends and need a trim. How do I do it myself?

The three hours isn't the trim itself, it's the wait in the crowded salon

I can't tell you how to trim your hair yourself, but I can tell you that I have the same kind of hair as you. My hair is so thick, that when I get up in the morning to take a shower my hair is still damp from my shower the day before. My advice is if you only want a trim go to someplace like Great Clips or Super Cuts. It's like 10 bucks and your haircut is simple enough that there should be no way they could mess it up. Besides if you cut it yourself and it ends up not being straight or is messed up somehow you can only blame yourself. But if someone else cuts it and a friend says something you can blame it on the hairdresser and ask for a refund! Good luck!

well, first of all... NO stylist in their right might takes 3 hours for a trim. you should be done with it in 20 minutes, at the most. i tried cutting my hair on my own awhile back. big mistake. i ended up asking my boyfriend (who has never cut hair) to even it out for me.

for a basic trim, you could probably get a good friend to do a decent job. =]

I f you have a friend or mother that can trim the back of your hair straight that would be one way-but it is best to spend the 20$ for a professional to do it.

well, if you're good with scissors, you can make a system of mirrors so that you can see behind your head and do it that way. or get someone in your family, or a friend to do it. but in any case, i should think that a hair proffesional can do a better job than you, provided that you are not in hair industry. :)
