I took my little puppy to the Vets last week and the vet refused to clean the table down after i pointed out the hundreds of hairs from the previous dog on the examination table. As this is a rubber mat that was horrifically filthy and the Vet argued with me that it was healthier than a stainless steel table I want to take this futher.. is there anyone I can report them to for being unclean.. I don't even know if he washed his hands after treating the other dog ( they kept it in as well) also it was my puppies first injection... my puppy was ill today.. can you help..please?? I also want to know if anyone else has this problem with their vets and what they think of the stainless steel examination table as opposed to the wooden old bench with a stip of rubber mat across it? ps.. i might add i refused to put my puppy on that table.. the vet held him with one hand (despite me asking him if he wanted me to hold him) and injected him with the other..puppy was in agony all day

Hi, This is disgusting! I work as a Vet Receptionist and it is pure hygiene to wash down tables with surgical spirit (or similar) after each and every examination!

I would advise that you write a complaint in the first instance to the Practice Manager of your Vets, who is obliged to take your complaint further.

If you want any further advice, please contact me!

Sorry to hear about your puppy's horror day. first the rubber mat is not a problem. Stainless steel is cold and uncompftable for the pets. your puppy is going to sniff on every poo stack on the street so dont worry about the hair on the mat. as it is an examination table not the one for operations, there is a bigger chance for your pup to get sick on the street. The only problem i see with your vet is that he seem's to be pissed of by your plea to clean the table. Puppy's and injections: I took 7 different young animals for their first vaxination and 6 out of 7 were sick for about 24 hours. it's quiet normal, happens to humans aswell. but now that your pup know's that vet it doesn't want to go there anymore. my advice is to change the vet if possible. there is nothing you can do about the table or injection.

Vaccinations can make them sick for a few days. And that is the least of the problems from them. Some die after vaccinations. Read up on it. Links to Wisconsin University...

As far as his office, I'd find a new vet.

change your vet...when i have puppies they are taken straight through i don't go into the waiting room i just phone ahead and go...as your vet has no hygiene training/knowledge i would be loathed to put the medical care of any dog in his care..by law when you go and register with a new vet the old vet has to forward your notes on treatment etc that your dog has had....so don't worry about no continuity ....you don't have to say anything to the old vet just register with a new one the new vet will ask the old one for your notes.....when the old vet realises maybe he will realise why and it will hurt him in his pocket so at least your money isn't going into his coffers.........

Is he the only Vet around? If so grin and bear it, otherwise go to another Vet . Dogs sniff the ground and other dogs urine and stool they are not as immune as puppies but once its shots are over you hopefully wont need to see him often

Go to a Vet in a neighbohood without bars on the windows.

P.S. Dogs are filthy animals just like humans, they can take it.

Find another vet.

I would trust my vet with my life let alone my animals.

Good looking in to the bargain.
