If it ever happened which it more than likely will not, I think it would be harder than Iraq for the USA to invade.
Think it would be a good even fight to be honest, due to well trained aussie soldiers and to australia's large size. What do you think?

"Australia has a small population because Australia is mostly desert and people live on the outsied just like Canada even though they are a big island they have a small army even the British have a bigger military then them and even bigger then Canada and its the British that train the Aussies so they are good fighters but they dont have a chance if they leave the commonwealth..."

James, for your information when it comes to training troops especially the special forces Australia leads the pack,we train the poms and believe it or not your best of the best in America, infact it is common knowledge our SAAS were the first in both Afghanistan and Iraq,in both of which we suffered no casulties.AS stupid as this question is as we are unfortunately firmly up George Bushes **** and are more likely to go to war with Indonesia than anyone else at the moment.Saying that if America did want to invade it wouldnt be all that hard as we arent a firearm bearing country and while we have a rep of being the toughest soldiers on the planet there isnt much you can do with a boomerang against a tank. That is why unfortunalely we are supporting the US etc cause if Indo had a navy with their 750 000 troops we would be forked.

OK just for giggles, because I think the US and Australia will always get along lets look at it.

Force Projection - the US by far big blue water navy and carriers

Ground forces - A technological lead by the US a man to man advantage to the Australians. Aussie troops have a well deserved rep for being major bad.

Nuclear forces - the US has an arsenal in place. Australia could ramp up one quickly.

Long term results. - the US could take but not hold any part of Australia. The Australian Navy and Air Force would sting the US mainland at least once if not more.

Over all winner = Australia for the same reason that Afghanistan defeated USSR. They would never give up.

This is such an odd question I don't know weather I want to laugh or cry... USA versus OZ .."Oh! My!.Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my.(repeat3x) I hope you're not from Kansas. coZ your question is over the rainbow. It deserves a special place in the yahoo hall of gloriously odd off the wall questions that make time spent here interesting.
you do know Aussies call the land down under Oz
Keep this question open for the full week don't get all excited and close it up. the best questions have at least a half to a full dozen good answers and they flow from one another each adding more bits of info than the previous ones so give it plenty of time...

so let me get this straight you are proposing US vs.OZ ......Hmmmm....

You must be Joking.

Australia is not just a country its an entire continent... and On what grounds justify? for this fantasy war of yours

my sister has gotten 6 best answers and I have none so I hope this is entertaining enough to bring a few extra point my way.
but one of my pet peeves is questions that are closed up in 4 or 5 hours that only have less than a dozen answers. the coolest part of surfing here is scrolling down the answers skipping the one liners and reading the juicy paragraphs.

I think Australia would definitely put up a better fight than the Iraquis, with them being a first world country. But the US has far more experience in war and have definitely got a stronger army. Chances are good though that the UN would back Aus and that would bring them out of trouble, but would undoubtedly hatch WW3.
Australia alone may be able to hold them off if they were to invade, but i don't know how long. And because nuclear bombs would come into play, things become very different when compared to Iraq Vs US.
PS I'm South African if you want to know if i had a bias.

Although im lebanese. I do have aussie blood in me since my mum is from there. I think it will be extremely hard for them since the australians have a well trained army and a large size and an airforce. And for the guy b4 me aussies like all other english speaking people find americans arrogant and stupid.

Never happen. Aussies are way to civilized to have to go to war against.
