No one should judge a group by its worst rotten apples. However, when rotten apples are found in the barrel they should be taken out of the barrel. That was not done by the other 99% of the priesthood. That is where the continued judging is being aimed today. It has been found that more than 60% of the administrative members of the Catholic church has known of the problem and not put a stop to it. This goes all the way to the Vatican. Not a very good record.

I do not judge catholics by the priests anyhow, just like i would not judge protestants by the preachers. I think most catholics are sincere. Christ will come for a church without spot or wrinkle. He needs all these kinds of things exposed so he can purify the body of christ and restore holiness. each denomination has some error right now, and so each group should just work on finding out the truth and sticking to it.

well, as they say:
One bad apple, spoils the whole bunch,
If you would were abused as a child/teenager, then you would probably have an ingrained distrust of men. Not by choice of course.
People feel the same way about priests. Granted, just because one percent of priests are pedophiles, does not mean that they are... but that one percent is just a representation of those that have been caught. There is no way of telling which one is Father Bad-touch and which one isn't. So, again, there is a national ingrained distrust of priests.
A few years back, my husband and I were talking with a Liberal Catholic priest and he was explaining a little bit about their beliefs. One of which is that they allow their clergy to marry. His exact words behind this belief were "That way we do not encounter the same problems as the Roman Catholics."

in accordance to the link the priest changed into accused and removed from ministry by using allegations. The priest claims innocence and that he has no comprehend-how of the accuser. evidently the Church has acted proper so some distance. God bless! In Christ Fr. Joseph

Most people don't blame Catholics.
The Church is at Fault for hiding and enabling these deviants.
That is the crime and the cause for the anger.
They endangered more children, by not reporting it. They helped them hurt more children.
Catholics as a whole are a fine group of people. The Church is responsible for it's actions!!!

Who stood back and watched that abuse without helping you?
It's the same with the Catholic church. Anyone who would still give money to the coffers of an institution that covered up abuse of children to protect their church is as bad as the original abusers.

Actually in any faith, or in any race, there would be men of power either religiously, society or in government who could at one time or another abuse minors.
Actually your question is correct at addressing "ALL Men". I guess the answer to that is that not "ALL MEN" have the same guts nor thinking to abuse minors and teenagers. It is all dependent on how they were brought up. :)

I agree Debra. I remember a few years back when many Protestant "Spiritual Giants" were falling from grace all over TV, and I didn't like people judging all Christians by their behavior.

People tend to be lazy, stereotyping and lumping people into a faceless homogeneous mass is vastly easier than making a value judgement based on the specific individual. We can't stop others from doing it, we can only try not to do it ourselves.
