Alexandra "Alex"
i would like to say for the record, however, that my daughter, Alexandrea was about 10 when she started being unhappy with "alex"... but, it's so hard to change the habit after 10 years! but we understood where she was coming from... teachers would comment that they were expecting a boy (first day of school)... and when she started being REALLY interested in boys she liked her name even less... so, we started calling her Alex Anne... and we now introduce people to her by this name... a lot of people when we would say her name was Alex looked at us like weirdos and would often ask us to repeat her name... but no one acts that way about Alex Anne...
sorry i had to put in my life story... i just wanted you to know that a boy name on a girl is sometimes confusing for others which causes SOME anxioty for the child... BUT, i like those tom-boyish names too! i think they are cute on girls.
