(Joshua 6:20-21)

Joshua son of Nun wished to enter Palestine with his people. So he encamped around the city of Jericho and commanded the people to blow their horns. "As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people raised a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. Then they utterly destroyed all in the city, both men and women, young and old, oxen, sheep, and asses, with the edge of the sword "

"They warred against Midian, as YAHWEH commanded Moses, and killed every male. They killed the kings of Midian ... And the people of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and they took as booty all their cattle, their flocks, and all their goods. All their cities in the places where they dwelt, and all their encampments, they burned with fire." (Numbers 31:7)

Now the house was full of men and women ... about three thousand men and women.... And Samson called unto the LORD, and said ... strengthen me ... that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines.... And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood..... And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. I am not Jewish but it seems to me that the Jews are content to live and let live. But every now and then Hezbolla sends some people on an incursion into Israel and does some suicide bombing or something like that. Then in retaliation the Jews show no mercy which they have been forced to do and the Hezbolla starts whining about why do they do this to us. All we have done is kill a few Jews, can't they take a joke. Well it seems like the joke is on them what with their loses of life and their cities smeared all over the landscape. Why can't those people leave the Jews alone?

I don't think the people are of the same nature but considering how Jews, Muslims, and Christians alike treat these passages as holy doctrine ... they seem to impart divine providence to war ... implying God has sanctioned it as right and appropriate.

So I guess, in a way, yes ... but not because of the genetic line ... because of the religious line ... and not just Jews, but Christians and Muslims as well.

The Caananites were the barbarians, vicious, sexually perverse, violent, evil, sacrificing their children to their pagan gods. Even the children were corrupted. They were God's enemies. God ordered them destroyed. They were completely lost.

The Caananites are still like that , except now they call themselves Hamas and Hezbollah. God still wants them destroyed.

It seems to me that EVERYONE has a bit of the barbarian in them nowadays. Apparently, war answers all the questions. It is so sad that many civilians and innocent bystanders have to die as well. (But who cares, right? They're just collateral damage, right?)
