My hair has been coloured one too many times (from natural blonde to brown, back to blonde then brown and now blonde again), and to make it worse I have to iron my hair as it is naturally curly. But my hair is in such bad condition at the moment it won't even go curly, it's frizzy, limp waves..... Does anyone have any suggestions/remedies for hair that's in poor condition????

Firstly reagulary cutting your split ends will give your hair a fresh start. It will be more healthier and will grow faster. Secondly purchase yourself some good shampoo I would strongly recommed that you purchase Davroe Shampoo treatment formulated to improve hair condition. Its ideal for permed, coloured, bleached or dry hair Its also pH compatiable with hair and scalp and will reduce static fly away and frizzy hair. Its very condenced so you only need a little bit to wash your hair. This brand of shampoo is only in Hairdressors and is not exactly cheap however well worth it! and like I said its very condenced so it will last you a long time. Conditioner is also available at the salon and is also very good. I also use Pantene Pro-v Smooth and sleek leave in hair moisturiser after every second wash. I garantee you this will dramatically improve you hair it did with mine. Also treated your hair with egg yolks once a week will help a lot, you cant beat natural.

Get a good trim. Put conditioner on the ends when you shower. Comb your hair really gently. Let your hair air dry instead of blow drying. Try not to process it if you can and avoid heat treatments.
My hair is long and fine and really had a hard time. I had to bite the bullet so to speak and loose some of it in order to be healthy. I also had to take better care of it. Use conditioner. I know it makes hair soft and go flat, but use it and let your hair recover. Get those regular trims and lose some length. It is worth it. My hair is so much better. It was worth lossing some length.
Go have a long talk to them at the hair stylist. I did and it helped. Also I hear prenatal vitamins are good for hair. Plus some oils like taking flax seed oil caps by mouth are good. Follow the instructions on the pack. You can get them at the health food store.
Get a really good shampoo.

you haven't been taking care of it while coloring or straight ironing. that's why it's like this.
the split ends are one thing, but the 'won't even go curly' has me concerned. i'm thinking you might have fried your hair. does it feel like snot when it's wet or has the texture when wet changed at all? if so , it's fried and the only thing that will work is to cut it off. SORRY. once it gets to the point of changing texture when wet, conditioner doesn't do anything any more.

good haircut and ask the stylist how to take care of it.
no glycerin in hair products!!! if any of your products contain glycerin - throw them out.

people often think ' why does the stylist use all these products - i'm not going to ' . the reason the stylist uses all the products is to protect your hair. (sometimes to protect the hair from its owner)

NEXXUS has a product for this - sorry i forgot until now, so i found the question and returned. i think it's called EMERGENCY. find a local salon with nexxus products (no drugstore - even if they do have it) and ask a stylist how exactly it is to be used (been so long since i used it i forgot how). i know you have to rub your hands together to get it working. and you can actually SEE the fibers in it. it's EXPENSIVE, but from what i can remember from the class a few years ago it WORKS.

Over brushing will cause split ends and exaggerated backcombing will also make the hair split since it is disturbing the cuticle.
Brushing hair when it is still wet is one of the most important causes for split ends because wet hair stretches by as much as 25%.

Coloring and perms make hair weak and vulnerable for split ends. This type of hair needs extra care and should be treated with the appropiate products. Use a lot of conditioner and comb your hair through before rinsing it out.

Heated appliances can make hair become dry and finally it splits. Try to avoid using heated hair appliances as much as possible! If you are using them anyway, make sure to protect your precious locks with a potective product.

Towel drying is not good if you want to avoid splitting hair. You should blot your hair and then carefully comb it through with a wide toothed comb. Avoid using a hair dryer as much as possible since the heat won't do any good to your hair.

Elastic bands and all sorts of other hair accessories can damage your hair. Avoid using uncovered elastic bands since these often pull out hair when being removed. Other accessories will damage or weaken the ends of the hair.

And last but not least: Your health will affect your hair.
If you have a dry scalp your hair will split faster because there is not enough lubrication on the hair follicle. Dull hair caused by a low fat diet will also be more vulnerable.

Hope this helps~

Every 6 weeks get your hair trimmed, use hair treatments, and shampoo and conditioners than can treat damaged hair. Also consult an hairsalon, with advice to help treat your hair properly. Wear your hair up, more than ironing it, as that does some serious damage to your hair, which is probably some of the reason why your hair is in such a state.

Condition condition condition! Buy a good quality conditioner. I color my hair too. It dries it out. I switched to the more expensive hair coloring and that has made considerable difference in how my hair feels. Also, I never iron my hair, the combination of coloring and ironing is more than I'm willing to subject my hair to. Also use shampoos that are specifically for damaged/color-treated hair. As far as split ends, no cure except snipping them off. Trim your hair regularly and they'll disappear altogether.

Trim and condition, by trim I don't mean take off inches like some people do, as a barber/stylist I hate it when I get a girl wanting to take off more than they need. As for conditioning, if you have problems (obviously coloring too many times is one of them, 1st... stop coloring... it is just causing you more chemical damage, try a color rinse instead. Use Joico's K-PAX. It is by far one of the best conditioners in the market.

When it is wet, don't use a brush, only a comb... brushing wet hair will create more split ends.

Pantene conditioner for curly hair is really good.

When you have split ends though, the only remedy is to get your hair trimmed.

If you can... leave your hair curly sometimes as those irons will be doing serious damage to your hair every time you use them.

Use L'oreal Elvive anti-breakage shampoo and conditioner. I have done the same as you and I have started using this shampoo and my hair is back to normal. It is not going to work overnight but every time you use it you will see a little improvement. Also put a little coconut oil on you hair and leave it on overnight, as a weekly treatment.

Good luck
