A girl mate of mine is in love with someone who doesnt know about it. Thing is im starting to feel things for her, I dont want to lose the friendship but I want more and I dont think she can give it.
Is it a lost cause?

The fact that she told you she loves someone else is good enough to let you have an idea of her mindset. The only thing you can do is tell her you know someone who is going through what she is going through and what should the person do. Use her answer to solve your problem. There's no such thing as a lost cause until its lost

I am a great believer in communication. All you can do is talk to her, bite the bullet, summon up the strength and tell her how you feel. You don''t have to be all slushy and sickly :-), just talk to her and explain how things are. If you really like her, it's worth taking a chance, if you are truly friends whatever the outcome, you will remain friends. Take a chance, fortune smiles on the brave and bold :-)

Remain as friends, do not frighten her. Or you will loose her forever. In the meantime, carry on with your normal life, who knows, maybe you may meet up with someone better. Think positive.

well, don't fight the feelings.
try to talk to her, see if you think that she would accept you as her significant other. If she just wants you as a friend, then at least you still have the friendship...
