some companies that you may rent a vehicle from has insurance on their vehicles .. they also charge a nice fee for it and the mileage you use on the car..i was going to rent a car for 1 day and it was going to charge me 359 dollars for one day to go to a funeral.. i did not want to spend that much money ...i am not a very wealthy person and i have to try to pay my bills...but i think you will be looking at paying some big bucks for sure...

you will find you cant get cover if you RENT or HIRE abroad, only your own vehicle or one lent to you that you have permission to drive, but they usually want it in writing before you leave the UK and will want details of the vehicle.... i know this because i hire vehicles abroad but also borrow friends vehicles when visiting them in other countries... but to be honest the premiums are pretty high.
