I think its about time God stopped it all or everyone stopped and looked about and realised he, she, they (whatever anyone believes in) isnt going to stop all this and that it is simply man using the best cover for hatred there has ever been. Ultimately the individual is the only one who counts and as long as there are individuals happy to use their God as an excuse then there will be no end to this. There have always been religious wars and I expect there always will be. Our ability to move onto higher levels of understanding are seriously hampered by organised religion in general and political religious manipulation is the best way to mobilise large numbers of people.
I deplore the type of war we seeing today but I wonder if we are more upset by it because there has been a period in time where wars were much more politically based and we are moving back towards religious wars which we find harder to take sides on and less able to reconcile death and suffering with our ideas of religion and peace.

Well, god or any variety of gods have served for thousands of years as excuses to kill.
Quite frankly, I don't think it'll stop until the human race wipes itself out. Maybe if we took god(s) out of the equation, we'd have to take a long hard look in the mirror and see ourselves for what we really are, because that's the one thing that we're not doing. We hide behind self righteousness and delusions of beholding the truth... and that's nice and comfortable.
What do I think? .. well, I'm not holding my breath, to be honest.

In Gods name the killing won't stop. Much of the killing is done IN Gods name (an illogical argument, but it's used that way).
Only common sense, tolerance towards everything that's different from you, persistence and an open mind may stop the violence (in the far future I'm afraid).

The world will achieve peace only when people evolve to a higher moral level. One day, we will achieve this. One day people will not even think that is killing is and answer to anything. People will stive to do good to/for the other. Give it time. The masses cannot be changed in one day, or on millenium.
As this world evolves towards peace, all humans refusing to evolve with it, will reincarnate to lesser worlds, that will fit their evolutional standards.

Even though I am not catholic or Christian killing in the name of God is wrong. Unfortunately you find this type of behavior among fanatics. They believe that God is talking directly to the individual and he is telling them to do this in his name. Very twisted behavior. Of course now this just does not fall on the shoulders of catholics or Christians its in all religions. Until we can get rid of all the fanatics we will never put an end to this problem.

Nothing. Your right. and that is sad.
bottom line is this:
Christianity and Islam is diametrically opposed. for a reason.
God, is going to destroy this world and the people left in it, after His rapture.
You don't have to agree with this. I'm simply telling you, this is the best it is going to get. next week..next month...next year, is only going to get worse.
Believe as you wish. That's what faith is all about.
God Bless You.

You take the factor off !
You take God off - and there will be no killings in the name of god !
We knock on the sleepy heads and tell them that there is no God - find a proper reason to kill - there will be no other reason I am sure, and if there is, it will be forgotten in no time.

God will put a stop to it when Jesus comes back, in the meantime the Bible says these things will happen because men choose it.

i think by people reading whatever book they believe in properly instead of hearing it from mouth will make a difference. they all against killings and wars so people have no reason to fight, so i would say all our children should receive a proper religion education which will teach them all religions and humanism.......
