Dont skip lunch. Avoid heavy meal. You better not have biscuits and other carbohydrate rich food. A good breakfast wil give you enough calorie for the day. Have fresh fruits and vegetables. Have salad. Avoid fried food. And if you cannot resist yourself from having the delicious Pakistani dishes that tend to be rich with fat, try having them in a smaller quantity and accomapnay with fresh vegetables to make a balance. Have fresh fruit juice instead of flavouored milk.

I would not advocate skipping lunch or replacing it with snacks, as the body needs a constant supply of nutrients. Snack food tends to be high in sugar, these will give you an energy "high", but this will be rapidly followed by a trough and more food will be sought.

Fruit is a good idea as part of the solution, but again it contains natural sugars (fructose). It would therefore be wise to combine the fruit with brown bread or a jacket potato to create a balanced meal.

I cook and eat a lot of food whose source is the Indian sub-continent.Oilyness and heavyness is largely caused by the cooking medium. Using ghee (clarified butter) or other animal fats will militate towards a heavy result. Use sunflower oil for frying, reserving ghee for where the taste of the ghee is important for the dish you are cooking. There are a lot of Asian dishes where the spices and seeds are lightly fried at the start of the cooking process, water is then added and the meal is cooked by simmering. This will give a light result.

Kashmiri cuisine tends towards richness, but there are many filling yet light vegetable meals in the cuisine of the Punjab and Bengal. Research on the Internet will reveal many recipes for you to try.
