Indeed it is a book by Sartre a French existential philosopher. In general he postulated that existence precedes essence. That is we define who we are totally there is no "god" out there defining or directing things. "we are alone with no excuses' is another famous quote of his, at least the English translation.

Being and Nothingness is a work by JP Sartre. I had to write a paper on (a part) of it for a philosophy course at university. If you're interested in it (the book is impenetrable) you are better off trying to find a summary of the main concepts at a philosophical web site. The concept of being and nothingness is very interesting.

Being nothing is being most powerful.Nothing is more powerful than anything. You can understand by the power of vacuum. It is used in stopping train or can used in bending metals. "Being" is when you are alive and living... "nothingness" is when you are dead and having no sensations or experiences.
