You should be more scared of the United States doing nothing and your little girl having to dress in a Burka and calling Osama Bin Laden her Dictator.

Worry for my kids? Always.
But the world has always been a dangerous place. We just tend to forget that here in the West (and especially America & Canada), because we have had it so easy for so long; even Europe has begun to forget how tough things can get, and they are only 3-4 generations removed from WW2.
So take some deep breaths, and try to relax. It was not a mistake bringing a child into this world; giving the gift of life is never a mistake, Meliss. For all the hate and violence there is an equal or greater amount of love and warmth to be given and enjoyed, including the love and joy that comes from your children.
And that is something I know about; my wife & I have raised two beautiful, intelligent, and (mostly) happy daughters...

Yes, I'm very worried about the future for my child. It's not just the wars either, I would be worried regardless. Even if there weren't any wars going right now, they will still have to deal with what's going on right here in our own backyard. Too often we're hearing about crazy people kidnapping children, raping them, torturing them. Not only that but just all of the senseless murder and crime. Then you have the public school systems. Half the time they're not teaching our children anything, the other half they're obsessing over what they are wearing, what color they're hair is, what piercings they have. I guess all we can do is love our children and teach them that the only way that anything will ever change for future generations is if they change it themselves.

If you don't account for Pearl Harbor or 9-11. There hasn't been a War in America for over 100 years. The countries that have nuclear capability would never dare to nuke us because they know it would mean instant death from our retaliation. The countries that are trying to get nukes will probably never acquire the technology to launch them with any accuracy at America. And if they were to acquire nukes, we would take them out in a heartbeat. The world only seems like it is going crazy because there has always been a war somewhere. Don't be afraid for your child.. Stop Watching the news. All the media does is puts fear into your mind so you will be so afraid you will continue to watch. Did we all die from killer bees, West Nile, Bird Flu, Dirty Bombs, Our failure to buy Plastic sheeting and duct tape, Mad Cow Disease, The terror plot to bomb your local walmart, or anthrax? Don't forget the new ones the media is trying to scare us with, Global Warming, World War III, N. Korea, and the What-if scenarios of massive tsunami's and tornado's. The best thing you can do is to not buy into the mass panic the media is trying to push on you. It is natural to be afraid for your kid. But one day he will be a man/woman and hopefully you will have taught him/her to be a good person.

The world isn't a bit less or more crazy then 100 or 1000 years ago. You can't protect your kid(s) against every possible crazy thing. Nobody can. Most part it is just a big lottery. It depends on where you live what the chances are.

I dont have kids but everything doesnt happen by mistake especially the child your carrying right now. Its a gift. People make choices to bring life or take it, God does protect us and we ourselves have to watch our backs. Keep on keepin on, as much as there is bad in the world, there is also good.

Forget about the wars and killings...we should be more afraid of the kids themselves. We should be afraid of the kids who run around filming each other beating up innocent people. We should be afraid of kids who roam in packs thinking they own the streets. We should be afraid of kids who don't have any respect for teachers. We should also be afraid of over-aggressive mothers who ram innocent people with their prams. We should be afraid.

I am afraid for the next generation however being crippled by it will not help, the only thing that helps is to make positive changes where possible and encourage others to do the same.

Yes, and I don't have kids of my own.
I have been a teacher for many years and I worry about what kind of world we have left for them
The young men who cannot see a future for themselves and decide to join the military I am especially worried for.
