I have a Yorkshire terrier who's pregnant and I'm just wondering how you can tell when they're coming close to giving birth...I know they are pregnant for 60-62 days but I'm not sure when she conceived....she has been acting strange lately she won't get up or move around to much and she's not as playful...is there any signs to idicate if she's close?

And for the person"TMF" It was planned for her but we didn't record the date of when it happened and things like that happen....If anybody else has any rude comments then you should keep them to yourself.

She may hide. Her breasts may be leaking milk. Watch for her to start nesting, trying to make a certain area comfortable. Watch for the belly to sag. At the first signs of birth, she will whimper and yelp.

you said >>but we didn't record the date of when it happened and things like that happen<<<

NOT IN MY BREEDING PROGRAM!!!! You want to be a breeder then you need to watch the mating and record it, and how many times.. I am going to guess you just put them together in a pen and said go for it. Could be wrong, but i am almost always right;-)

Since so many answered I wont bother with signs, but there is a search engine called good, try it, you can lear an awful lot.

Do you even have a CLUE as to when she went into heat? How do you know she is pregnant?.. There is NO WAY in H ell for us to be able to answer this for you without have SOME idea of WHEN they MIGHT have mated.. do you have a month you can share with us?

I also hope you have a vet on stand by in case she needs help, because yorkies are so small they tend to have problems.

The best way to tell if she is close, is she will stop eating the night before, she will start panting and looking for a spot to have her babies, do you have a whelpiong box ready for her?

Here is a link.. I hope you read it cus it is very helful.
http://www.debbiejensen.com/ tons of info links on the left after u scroll past her book info..

Wait for her to start slapping around the stud who nailed her?

Just kidding. Don't worry about it. Make sure she has a nice, private little area where she won't be bothered and let her rip. She will be fine. Can I buy one of the puppies? Yorkies are so cute. Animals just seem to have a better sense of the birthing process, I guess 'cause they have been doing it for eons and centuries without medical plans, HMO's, family practitioners or obgyns. LOL!

Since you are so dumb to let her get pregnant, I hope she needs a C section and you have to pay a ton of money!!!! Hope that will teach you a lesson about properly caring for your "pet".
