Not true.
Coffee, without cream and sugar, acts as a diuretic and can contribute to dehydration. Unless you actually eat the beans, you're not consuming carbs. The caffeine also acts as a stimulant to the nervous system which in turn increases your level of energy and therefore your metabolism. That is why caffeine is sometimes used in diet pills. So if anything, the opposite is closer to the truth.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. Do not touch articles of food or the cutlery in between. This will activate ur body to generate strong signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals. Take light exercises and brisk walks (minimum 20 min duration) regularly preferably twice a day. U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body. U do not need to loose 10 but 5 lbs only.

If you're drinking it around the time that you exercise, then probably yes. Coffee causes dehydration, taking water away from your body. And your body needs hydration in order to break down fat. If you're drinking plenty of water before and after your work-outs there should be no problem. But having a morning coffee and then working out in the afternoon or evening should be no problem.
