York is a great place to go for a break - some good sights, depending on what you like and what the weather is like. Clifford's tower (the only remaining part of the castle), The shambles good for shopping and general gawking at old buildings, you can have a row down the river Ouse (great with a bear and a picnic), try the York eye (for good panoramic views of the city) Jorvik museum (for Viking heritage and a trolley ride), The Railway and Transport museum (not as boring as it sounds) and The York Dungeon (for madame Tussuad's type gore) Some good bars/pubs are the Rising Sunne, The Black Horse, Giorgio's for a good Italian and great service. Hope that helps.

We had fun on the York Ghost Tour! Often lead by an elegant man in a top hat, you will be shown all the infamous spots in town that make up the colorful history of the city of York. VERY interesting for all ages!
Clubs are pretty casual there.

How about visiting The Vorkic Viking Centre. I visited York 15 or 16 years ago, and that is the one place that has stuck in my mind. Also Yorkminster - gorgeous abbey, with the most spectacular stained glass window.

Head to Swinegate - it is the new 'run' in York and is very nice. They've just developed the Pentecostal church into a number of new bars, the Biltmore, the Voodoo lounge and it is just around the corner from Wildes's, La Tasca, Bobo Lobo and Oscars Wine Bar.
