I think that a suprise and a warning is in order depends if somone like a suprise or want to know up front.

depends on the fantasy. as a general rule, just going straight into it, while giving me a few clues as to how i should respond, would be best, however, if it is something way out there, i would like to be given a chance to think about it before we get started.
