To begin with, calling the area you are referring to as “middle eastern” can miss lead us from understanding the huge history it has to offer to the world, as no one can refer to a major country/civilization like China as south east Asia, the same thing applies to the area that some refer to as “middle east” –which is a term that has been coined only during the 20th century- the proper name should be as its natives call it: The Arab World, however, calling it the Arab World does not ever refer to a certain race, religion or even color,
There are Arab Muslims, Christians, Jewish, baha’ies and religions I am sure you never have heard of before, that still exists until now.
There are white, black and “colored” Arabs.
Now that I covered the naming and basic facts about the area u asked about, I will go to the main question:
When u referred to “God” in your question, I presume you are either Christian, Jewish or a Muslim, because these three religions share the same “main” concept about “God”.
The old Arab World has hosted all of the “well known” prophets for one obvious –it may be not so obvious during our times- reason: if you look at the world map, u will notice that the Arab World is located on the center of the three “old World” continents: Asia,Africa and Europe.
Which gives the inhabitant of this area the best access to the rest of the world population.
Think of it like if you are to give a speech with no aid of microphones, and u have a huge crowd, then the most obvious location for you to give your speech should be in the middle of the crowd, not on the sides or corners.

However, as I have said earlier, the Arab World have hosted all of the “well known” prophets, but there is many less “well known” ‘less mentioned” prophets. That have existed during the times or before the times of the “well known” prophets, but probably they have not been mentioned because either they were asked to be sent to very small groups or to a very distant lands with totally different cultures, that if they are mentioned into the same holy book (Old Testament, Bible or Quran) will minimize the “closeness” and synergy of the story, and for another reason, if “all” the prophets are to be mentioned in the same holy books, these books will turn into giant story books rather than being “moral books”

Some scholars of Muslims, believe that even some “philosophers” and creators of some other faiths like “Buddha” who created the faith called after him “Buddhism” could be amongst the “less known” prophets. As his morals and teachings falls into the main scope of the morals of the “big three: Judaism, Christianity and Islam” but he never been mentioned into any of these books because he was initially sent to an “isolated” culture at that time – we are talking about 1000s of years ago- and probably like “Buddha” there have been many other prophets who never been mentioned.
At the end, haven’t you ever questioned your self, if there is a difference between a prophet and a messenger?

Some think it is because the middle-east is the most likely place for a person to suffer sun-stroke...

I would prefer to think, that literacy started in that area. Books connect people who where born thousands of years, and thousands of miles apart. The oldest religions, are the most survivable, partly due to the sharing accross time and space.

If you're referring to prophets mentioned in the Bible, then the setting of the Bible was mostly in the Middle East.
