In some states you have one chance to have one crime removed from your record. Tell her to call her local courthouse and ask about having her record sealed or exponged (sp?). Some places will hire with a misdemeanor. I got a felony for something someone had in their luggage because I was the driver. Ten years later I can't rent an apt. or most houses because of it and as far as a career, I have had to figure out something where I work for myself so I am in college for interior design which I probably would have done anyway. I have been turned down for many a good job because of this and now I am angry for reminding myself of it.

First off s long as she is up front and honest with the staffing center and the interview board and depending on how long ago the conviction was and was restituion paid, there may be no need for a career change. Failure comes to only those who do not try.

in the UK - things do not appear on your record after a certain amount of time. If it is several years ago than it might not be an issue.
