they will start up again in a few days, why is that? AOL Messenger is the worst!

try running the program that's starting up, and go to the settings of the app, and disable the option to run when windows starts/logon.

If you disable any program in startup it will be disabled to run when windows start, however some programs won't start anyways. Do not use MS config, disable the run with windows start up from within the programe when run, like Yahoo/MSN/AOL

Some of them don't like to be told what to do. Some will have a setting you can turn off within them. If they're running in the tray in the bottom right-hand corner, right click and look for Options or something similar. See if you can find something about a tray icon or related. Uncheck that.

If you use the program after you disable it, some programs will run on start up again.

you can OOF it from ALO from option and you will see start up when windowes start up you can choes what you want
