It's cheapest to get one in India. Start memorizing the common checkpoints for used cars to minimize the chance of getting ripped off. In case you know someone locally and you trust them enough, it won't hurt to bring them along. The advantage is that if and when spare parts are required there is a better chance of them being available. With a used car and the traffic on the wrong side of the road that isn't too much of a luxury foresight.
