depends on what your cause is and how much money you need to raise:

carwash

lemonade/cookies stand

some sort of a simple (low cost) dinner, like spaghetti, where you can charge a set amount (say $20) per plate, and your actual cost of producing the food is only a couple buck's per plate.

get a local band to play- charge a cover fee. you make the flyers and do all of the leg work. they get exposure, you raise some funds. pay the bands expenses and buy them some beer.

some restaurants will do a special night where they give you a % of their take. this is usually only available to a fairly well known charity/cause or well known local person. It is good PR for the restaurant.

I could reel off many more, but this should help get your imagination going.

good luck!

My local cinema offers fundraising sessions. You can sell tickets for your group at whatever price you like, and the cinema charges you only $8 per ticket, and only for the people that actually turn up. So if you sell 100 tickets but only 85 people show, you don't have to pay for the remaining 15!

I used to fund-raise for a society in College.
Basically, find out what most people in your society like and do a tournament, like Golf, cards, bowling......etc.
Also we once did a mini casino....
You can also do a cooking contest... rent a place, each will bring in their different dishes, they can rent a table and then you can sell tokens at the entrance for as low as $1/token to buy food from each table! You can add to the fun by counting who got the most tokens!
Also, account for occasions... We used to get cute teddy bears holding red roses or mugs with red tulips samples and walked around school departments, showing them our samples, so they can order them for their loved ones on valentine! Your closest occasion is Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! Maybe Hanuka too... Also, Car wash! Always works! Believe me :) all you need is to juts be creative!

the coolest i have seen in present day circumstances replaced into once a bunch of lengthy haired adult males that permit people decrease parts of their hair. One decrease for to that end-and-such a lot till eventually there replaced into once no more suitable to reduce, and the money went to charity. i'm guessing that their mum and dad were first in line. =)
