there are too many of the wrong kind of people bringing children into the world. i think people should be educated to a certain level and have the finances available before they have kids. in extreme cases there are children exposed to domestic violence. it should be an offence to get pregnant without having passed the "exam" first. what do you think?

Requiring an exam to be passed before couples could have children sounds like life in a totalitarian society. However, I do agree that bad parenting is something of a worldwide pandemic. Bad parenting can lead to children growing up with bad attitudes and low morals which eventually end up negatively impacting society, often in the form of crime. Many adults lack the emotional maturity needed to successfully raise a well-adjusted child that will go on to become a positive contribution to society. And it's a vicious cycle, "bad" parents create "bad" children which grow up to be "bad" parents themselves.

Requiring couples to pass a parenting exam and prove they were financially capable probably would help in insuring that only qualified people had children and therefore would have a positive effect on society as a whole. However, are our human rights infringed upon by mandating such a policy? And if not, then who has the right to set the standard for the acceptable way to raise children?

well yea there is alot of the wrong people getting pregnant but if gov. and laws were made to back that up could you imagine the hell that would break loose? That would fall under taken away a womans rights. It would probably cause another war or something, it would be crazy talk like people in Canada would laugh at the people who were supposed to hold the name for the "land of the free" and all that freedom is taken because "HAHAHA women in the usa are so stupid they have to take an exam to have children" Think of the ones it would help but at all the ones it would offend, like married women and religious women and women in general.

Also you know that women would violate this law so when they did what would you do? Kill there children? Lock them away and when the child is born put it in foster care? I mean really where would that take us? It is sad for children to suffer, i agree, but it is a decision i think the parents make and that is that. for now there is nothing we can do..

Efforts to implement programs that restrict reproductive freedom based on genetic information are scientifically and ethically unacceptable.Misguided efforts to do so devalue humanity." The topic of eugenics cannot be discussed for long without encountering the Holocaust.Homosexuals were killed for eugenic reasons because it was felt they could not breed. The Nazi drive to design future generations " resulted in concentration camps, forced sterilization, infanticide and genocide"The right to reproduce without interference from third parties is one of the fundamental freedoms recognized by international law and moral theories from a host of ethical traditions. It is also morally wrong to allow the state to impose its vision of the future by force.
For those of you that agree with the person posting the question, ...."who will decide whether this person or that person should have children. Think it over before you answer. Will they decide that "YOU" are too white, too black, too yellow or too red to reproduce? Will they decide "YOU" are too tall, too short, too thin or too fat to continue to live? One person may not be as educated as the other, but both can love and be loved. If your view is different from mine does that mean you are ignorant or does it mean you are a human being that has a different point of view? Should your life be terminated because your view differs from the majority? If the government is allowed to make the choice of reproduction for you on top of all the other choices they already make for you. You're nothing more than a mindless robot! Think about it... The government has determined that the citizens of the US are not intelligent enough to decide whether or not to wear a seat belt! and that is just the tip of the ice berg!!!!!

IM SORRY BUT IT JUST WONT HAPPEN AND I THINK ITS A STUPID IDEA. SOME PEOPLE WITH EDUCATIONAL PROBLEMS AND LOW INCOMES CAN MAKE EQUAL IF NOT BETTER PARENTS THE THOSE OF A HIGHER INCOME. FOR EXAMPLE MY MUM DROPED OUT OF SCHOOL IN YEAR 8 AT 13 HAS NEVER HELD DOWN A CAREER BUT SHE ALWAYS MADE SURE AS KIDS WHERE FEED AND HAD A GOOD LIFE WE ARE ALL GREAT CHILDREN AND I WOULDN'T CHANGE IT FOR THE WORLD! so sorry i dont agree with you on this one! better luck next time!

yes i do in fact i was talking to someone about this just the other day!! i wish i could remember my defenses behind it, but i cant. dang it. but yes i do agree.

but, if someone didnt have the opportunity to be educated or have learning disabilites it would be unfair. my mother isnt formally educated but did a great job with me.

it'd be a tough test but some people are just morons.

another thing, if a lady does get pregnant without passing the test, what would the punishment be? abortion is too extreme, maybe adoption? i dont know.

Exam won't do anything. You take a driver's test, yet we still have accidents. Anybody can put anything on paper, but there really is no secure way to make sure people are fit to raise children. Plus, that seems very unconstitutional as well.

I dont agree with an exam...however there should be a training before you leave the hospital on taking care of an infant and maybe free ongoing classes at the hospital to help with future care.

No as noone would have kids as most people are terrified of exams. Most capable mothers I have met confess that they did badly in school at times due to freezing up in exams.
