My Grandfather who was a Minister of the Prebyterian Church suggested to me to be forever questioning, searching, etc. This I have done and I really feel that it has become my answer to "Whats it all about". It has confirmed my beliefs in God, as I feel that 1 (one) lifetime is not enough to learn all that we have to learn and so subsequent lives progress us on to spiritual enlightenment. I am always open to new theorys and ideas, so please give this your best - please treat it as a discussion and answer honestly from the heart and not from dogma.

Reincarnation, I don't believe in it but my 11 year old son does, probably sounds like the "coolest" option to him right now. I teach my children about many beliefs and even nonbeliefs and let them chose and research what they feel is the best fit for them as individuals. I make certain that my religious beliefs (or lack thereof in my case) are never expressed because i don't want to infuence their decision making in this area. I think it is horrible for a parent, or anyone for that matter, to force their beliefs onto another, especially a child. The end result will be a child with no respect for the religion you want them to love because they see it as something they HAVE TO do as opposed to something they desire on their own.

...........This is why, when Jesus pronounced the divine word "love", the ancient world trembled and the martyrs, enraptured with new hope, walked fearlessly to meet the death in the Roamn circus.

The Spiritist Doctrine, in its turn, has come to announce the second word in the divine lexicon. Now pay attention, because this word, "reincarnation," sets free at last, the life that people thought to put away under a gravestone. It represents the final triumph over death, and reveals to the astonished humanity its legitimate heritage. Death is no longer a dark road into domains of anguish. Rather, it is a joyful flight toward a liberated, transformed self. For centuries, the belief had been that blood redeemed the human spirit. Now it is the spirit that redeems human life from the bondage of matter.

........Individuals dominated by their passions, then, are in earlier stages of evolvement. They change very reluctantly, and only slowly come out of their shell. The spirit, you must understand, needs to be cultivated as you would cultivate a pasture. All your spiritual wealth in the future depends on the work of cultivation you are doing now. More than any of your material achievements, this is the work that will take you to glorious heights. As you come to understand the law of love, you will begin to experience the sweet delights of the soul. These delights are preludes to your heavenly happiness.

You said "1 lifetime is not enough to learn all that we have to learn." So what, exactly, do you remember from previous lives?

I think it's pretty clear that the physical brain is the root of consciousness and memories. Memories are built through the passage of time and are stored by physical mechanisms within the physical brain. It would be impossible for this to be transferred to a different body in a different location. Reincarnation is a nice fantasy, but it's only fantasy.

I believe in reincarnation and that we have been here before many many times, as men and women, and across many different races. I do not see this as being incompatible with religion, as all religions are a pathway to the same goal. I have also searched for answers for a long time, and reincarnation not only makes the most sense to me, it also 'feels' right.

Im very surprised at how many liberal people embrace re-incarnation. At the heart of this belief is blatant classim. "Im rich and powerful and successful because I lived a good past life and I deserve. You must be poor because you had a bad past life. So work hard, except your fate of being poor, and maybe you will have better luck inthe next life"

I say no, but not cavalierly I really looked into it, into many beliefs. I came out with the realization that we had only one chance to live our life. Sure there are many things we COULD Do it would be great to do it ALL a but time controls that for us. Our inability to handle life's physical end hampers our choice of how we spend it. How much of it is wasted standing in lines, arguing, sleeping, worrying
watching, listening to music,words,movies,"documentaries"

that have little weight on our future well being, our earthly measure, I wanted to believe but found nothing there. Dear Mr. Gandhi is gone he will be no more but he left footprints , he used some of his time wisely. His foot prints are there if they show them to their children and share my life with them I have lived. I want to live long but not more then once. I could not bare the love of another family, the worry of another family, reliving childhood, teenage angst no way! I want to be with my creator being safe for the first time in my life knowing I once lived and I made a difference at any cost.

OK follow this. There was an earth age before the garden of Eden! that's the first world age. the second starts with our christian bible in the garden of Eden till the 2nd coming of Christ. this earth age were in till Christ returns is the second world age! The third and final earth age begins after Armageddon and after Christ return!that will be the third world age. Now we were here in the first world age and if you find Christ before you die you will make it to the 3rd world age . Now with that said, the bible says in this earth age , a man is appointed to walk this earth once! no reincarnation! But through faith in Jesus you will live for eternity! So read your Bible ,its all there. Start in John and read till Revelation!God bless

I dont believe in it because then there would be no point in believing in afterlife and i deeply believe in afterlife and besides the way this world is going from bad to worse and if you dont believe in God good luck because i would be surprised if it lasted for another 1000 years. Unless of course we live in another planet of course but i think that's ever going to happen.

I do not believe in reincarnation in the sense it is believed in many circles. I feel I will pass on into other forms. My body will provide sustenance in one way or the other to other forms of life. and so will pass on.
