He probably feels intimidated. What is your dad like? How long has your boyfriend know him? Keep in mind, you have known your dad your entire life... but you boy friend hasn't. I guess your Boyfriend is quiet out of respect for your Dad, He probably doesn't want to be seen as a loud mouth around him or maybe thats his way of exhibiting 'best behaviour'.........

It could be fear coz after all you are your Dad's little girl & maybe your Boyfriend knows your Dad will always be larger than life in your heart.

It can be intimidating to have a 'bigger stronger' man around & maybe your Boyfriend see's him as such.

Dads are notorious for being very protective of their daughters. They don't want them hanging around some schmuck-a.ss punk loser. At the same time, boyfriends don't want to come off as a schmuck-a.ss punk loser and have your dad go Hulk Hogan on him.

Ask him why he acts like this. As long as he does it to make sure he is respectful and polite, and because he wants to get along with your dad, then just let it be.

Maybe he just doesn't know what to say...maybe he thinks that if he says something not right, dad won't approve. I'm sure there a lot of guys like that, we are just keepin our heads above water, so to speak. One wrong word or tone could offend someone, especially it being your fathers. Fathers of girls are more likely to be scepticle of boys that their daughters are dating. Don't take it personal.

The reason is because fathers are always protective of their daughters, and when that daughter begins dating, the father wants nothing more than to kick that boy to the curb.
