I never report because I merely disagree. I dont even report the posts that dont make sense. I wont report anyone who complains or gripes. But I SO report people who will constantly call ANY religion or faith, stupid, ignorant, less than human, or say they should all die. Anyone else? Are you scared to report blantant hateful posts, or so you report?

Yep I report people, heck I just reported Ludd and I will continue to. I report if they are downright hateful and cruel.

Each person has their own tolerance level and has their own standards of weather to report or not report.
Yes there are some really strange questions and some that are hard to understand and still others that are so bad bad bad.
I report the hardcore obscine and discusting ones I have also reported one that I thought was an incitement to do violence.

I think some people just vent here and say things they would never say if it were face to face.

I've also found some really cool questions...and have been mildly suprised when my answer was chosen as best a few times.
I answered
Stem call research? and any good recipies for JELLO shots?
quite a range don't you think!...
stem cells and JELLO shots.
what a combo(*;*)
actually I have never made them but I guess I can explain how to do it.
I am not at all afraid to report any post that is disturbing.
I see it as necessary to discourage pranksters posting drivel

I think this site will evolve into what we the users make of it and Yahoo needs our eyes to sort thru things and keep it as clean as we can.
you don't have to report everything that offends you but I think it is the only responsible thing to do in some cases.
last night I reported a question that asked about how to commit suicide and saught suggestions...I think something like that needs personal care and tact ... I sometimes think that this site is like mob mentality and people do things when they can be annonymous and not be held accountable that they can't do other times....

I'm happy to report people who game for points or who impersonate. I think that those are very ugly activities.

On the other hand, I don't report 'hate questions'. Why? Most of the time, if they're clearly trolling, I will ignore them as they enjoy the 'notoriety' of being reported - note culoman's 'answer' to your question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtOlZAaoPjlwzShVhDCtmfDsy6IX?qid=20060723002007AA1weGN

Furthermore, they're right. It's far too easy just to log on with a new account. I believe that if they're ignored, they will go away.

If the person is, through ineducation, showing bigotry, I will answer the question in order to explain the other side. I don't necessarily thing I'll 'get through' to the asker, but many other people will read the question, and maybe I can persuade one or two of them of the bigotry of the question.

Reporting denies us the ability to do those things. It makes the trolls feel good and it denies us the chance to help those who are bigoted through ineducation. I would advise everyone to think carefully before reporting.

I report people regularly. Usually when they're talking nonsense, making chatter, posting in the wrong category, being vulgar, obscene, or when they use Yahoo Answers merely as a means to argue, push or preach their particular philosophy, ideology, theology or religion in a way that's obvious they are not really here to ask a question.

This place is a zoo, with everyone dropping their own particular theological turds, and we desperately need to clean up the crap. And I am unbiased when I report, theist and athiest alike, Christian, Muslim and Jewish, agree or disagree, if they're abusing the system, I will not hesitate to report them.

I usually don't report people, cause others will do it for me - if not, the worst that happens is someone gets to speak there piece, as ignorant as it is - I've only ever reported a few questions -- if what they say is potentially harmful, like "Hey, here's a website that shows kids how to make pipebombs in school"

if there saying stuff like "all jews should die" they deserve to be bitched at by 20 people, and see how alone in their thought proccess they are

No, not scared.
I just don't think it's warranted most of the time.
That doesn't mean I don't think that things people choose to say are ridiculous and unfounded, if not hateful.

Plenty of the things people choose to say make me cringe, laugh uncomfortably, or stare agape at the screen in shock - but personally, having Libertarian tendencies, it's everyone's right to say their opinion.
Now, as a pseudo-intellectual, plenty if not most of the less than brilliant things said on here frustrate me for the reason that what is being said is illogical or unfounded - the stupidity/offensive factor is secondary, and personal.

We can't make universal rules based on yours or my sentiments - like it or not, all this Anti-Jew/Muslim/Christian/Athiest bullsh*t being spouted is heartily believed by many people, and yes, they have a right to their hate. I have the right to ignore it, to be disgusted by it, to think whatever I choose to think about it, but I don't have the right to not be offended by things people choose to say or believe. If we acted under such pretexts, nothing would be "legal" or OK, as we cannot adjudicate between two conflicting personal truths or sentiments.

Hi there.

I report people that deserve to be reported. If they fall under any of the Abuse category, they're going to get reported. Period.

I will not report simply because I disagree. That would be lame on my part.

The only thing I ever reported was a dude boasting about eating whale meat and wanting to find out where he could import it from,,I thought that was gross and very insensitive, considering everything that has been on the news about it lately (in oz)

I would not bother reporting that one. Such there is a guy named LUDD out there that annoys me But I'm not sure that's enough to warrant reporting. I did report a guy asking for child porn websites. Now that just pissed me off and did warrant getting reported.
