No, not at all. The only way to make things happen is to go out and do them.
'Wishing' (aka 'praying) is important for defining what it is that you really want. It's a valuable first step. But the wishes that you make stay in your head. It's up to you to realise them.

No matter how hard I wish, nothing is going to happen unless I make it happen. However, if by wishing I define what I truly want, I can then from there take steps towards achieving my goal. Let's say I wish I could get straight A's more than anything. If I simply stare at the textbook and wish I understood it, nothing will happen. Even if I pray to a god nothing will happen. Only by applying myself and studying will I get good grades, and if wishing helps me get started, then I suppose in a way wishing is making it happen.

Wishing alone cannot make something happen no matter how much you want it. Wishing and praying actually create a passive mentality in which one expects the desired outcome simply because they wished for it.
If one wants something badly and refranes from wishes, one would be more inclined to actively seek it and therefor be much more successful.

You know...i don't think it's impossible. You just have to wish for it, focus and most importantly believe in your wish for it to become true. Nothing is impossible when you believe...but then again be careful of what you wish for.
Take care.
