Which came first - the chicken or the egg? "The chicken" came first - in the sentence of the question. If the question is phrased differently, the answer is different.

The chicken,
or if you believe in evolution it was first hot rock soup for several billion years before it became a "chicken egg" first, then it raised itself and learned everything it needed to know, then found another chicken that went through the same process around the same time that it existed and round the same neighborhood so they could mate. But it first checked to see if it was a boy chicken or a girl chicken, seeing how 2 chicken of the same gender can have fun visiting each other across the road, but still not procreate.
That's how the question, "why did the chicken cross the road" originate.

The chicken because an egg just cant exist out of nowhere. It would be easier for the chicken to exist because using both the big bang theory and the creation theory, the chicken would have either been directly created or would have evolved from a dinosaur.

Aliens came to Earth millions of years ago and bred with pterodactlys who then laid eggs and there you have the first chicken. So the egg came first.
