In the New Testament there's a passage in which Jesus clearly tells a woman that in the future nobody would care if Jerusalem, Gerizim, or whatever was the "proper", "holy", whatever place to pray, as everyone would pray in their own souls.

However, when I see so many Christians (I am one BTW) caring about Jerusalem, getting involved with Israel's politics, $upporting that land, etc I ask myself "Don't those people read?"

Because of their interest in the rebuilding of a temple, because of their interpretation of prophecy that involves the temple. For instance, they suppose that "the antichrist" (really, the beast) in Daniel will sacrifice a pig in the temple (the abomination of desolation, set up on a wing of the temple).

Yes, I read a lot. Do you? Jerusalem is the city of God. Israel is God's chosen people and Christians know to support and pray for the peace of Jerusalem and Israel. We are seeing the book of Revelations coming to life the world over. Prophecies are being fulfilled every day just as the Bible told it.

He's not saying that no one should care about the country! He's saying that no one will worship at the temple (the one that was destroyed except for the Western Wall in 70 A.D.) because we won't need it to pray.

What Bible verse is that, by the way?

Jews are God's chosen people. Is that what you mean. That is in the bible but I do not think it is ok for Jews not to accept Jesus as God's son. They only see him as a prophet.

Israel is a place our God loves and we love what He loves, or we should anyway. We are blessed to bless Israel, we are cursed if we curse it.
