Well green could mean being very jealous, like the green eyed monster. Or that your very young and immature, like young green plants.

Green means that you lack experience in a certain subject.
Being "green" like a plant that has not fully blossomed or matured.

Green means "without much expereince". If you are green at dating, then you haven't dated much, green at golf, new to golf.
Green with envy is totally different. It means you are so jeaolous that you are "turning green"

Or it could mean your envious (full of jealousy). 'Green with envy' the saying goes

Maybe they mean your are "Envious" You know "green with envy" Like they think you envy them or someone else!! They don't sound like friends to me!
