I personally love tattoos, and I don't think anybody should be judged based on their choice to have body art, but sadly we are. I don't think it has anything to do with religion, just that people are narrow minded in other ways and judge others as being "bad" if they have permanent ink. Yes, I know people probably judge me based on the fact that I have 2 tattoos, but you know what? Those people aren't worth thinking about anyway. If they're good people, they'll like me for me and not judge me based on my skin.

All I can really say about this subject is that I don't have a tattoo and don't really want one (as someone else touched on, the idea that a tattoo is almost unremovable is a bit disturbing).

However, I also want to admit that I'm guilty of judging other people who have tattoos, only to find that some very decent, friendly people have a great desire to decorate their bodies.

I guess what I'm trying to say is you can' t judge a book by its cover, even if it's an ornately painted cover. Or to put it another way, folks from all walks of life get tattoos. Don't judge somebody because they have a tattoo - or conversely, because they don't have one. You'll be better for it - and might make a new friend in the process.

It definitely does because it conveys a statement or ideal about that person and other people interpret such permanent markings/symbols in their own personal way. Tattoos are relatively new to Western civilization. In older civilizations they hold great culture and religious meanings, not simply a form of self-decoration as many are now today in the West.

I don't like Tattoos. When I see someone with them I think that they are swayed by other people because they are marking themselves up to be different. They would be different if they didn't need to mark themselves to impress others.

Anyhow, on forms they are listed as scars, Tattoos and Deformities. No thank you to any of them.

Why would anyone pay someone to do graffiti on their skin which can not be removed? Besides I could not decide on a toenail polish colour that I would want to use for the entire summer. I know that I would not want to have permanent marks on my skin.

I like smooth even toned skin. The more even and smooth the better.

God Bless You, ;-)

It's your body.. your life.. it's a empty canvas.

Be very careful what you put on your body. Tattoos are not dirty.. like the loser above me said.. they have been around far longer than any common religion. The Ice Man had tattoos... to ward off evil.. and he lived thousands of years ago.

anyways... I like tattoos.. I don't have any but I don't think bad about a person... as long as it's not a nasty tattoo about killing people or a racists symbol of saying.. ect.

well I am Christian and I have one. I would get another one if the mood struck and it was a good one. I do not think that I am a Hypocrite because I have never told anyone not to get one, I feel that if I do, then it is between me and GOD and if my heart is right with GOD it is almost like when you do something and your parents are mostly disapointed in you but not angry. I think it is that way.
But then, there are those that would say, " i thought you were a christian, whats with the tattoos." oh well, I do not feel it is worth the arguement.
thanks for letting me comment.

I believe a tattoo is a picture which shows your feelings. Many people who wear lots of tattoos could use them to scare other people because they might be afraid of people themselves. They can also be used as symbols of love to a partner.

Many religions do not allow tattoos. I'm a christian but I believe that tattoos resemble many feelings and emotions and it should be alright if you wanted to get one as it shows the true you.

Well...personally i dont have a problem with people getting tattoos themselves, but a reason i wouldnt is because my body is a temple of Gods and i should keep good care of it, i am a tool to carry out his plan and destiny for my life.

i am 52 years old, have 3 large tatoos, and would love to finish my back piece. i love tatoos!! tats are an amazing art form- and the most intimate one i can think of. tatoos were most frowned upon in years gone by, but now they are quite common; though frowned upon in many venues. my one grip about tatoo popularity is that so many get a tatoo on a whim. i believe a lot of thought should be put into one's choice of something so permanent .

Yes, it affects what others view. But, then again what do you want others to view about you? that is the question.
