If Christ had a child it would have had far-reaching effects as far as humankind would be concerned. Even though Christ was a human on Earth, he used a human body much like erring angels in Noah's day. These angels produced large, strong men called the Nephilim. They followed Satan and nothing would have made him happier but to see God's wonderful creation corrupted even further. They were hybrids, unable to have children, because they were half-human, half-angel. Even though the angels had physical bodies, their true constitution was spirit. It would be the same as crossing a donkey and a horse to create a mule. Angels and humans are on two different planes; you could say they are different species. God allowing these hybrids to survive would have meant that the human race would not survive, as they were very violent and spread violence around them. This is not to say that Christ would have had violent offspring, but he would have been breaking a moral code separating spirit creatures from humans in terms of mating. This would have been a sin against God, and therefore, an act of worship to Satan. He would no longer have been able to qualify for dying for the sins of all mankind, being a sinner, then, himself.

For Catholics this presents some problems, for catholicism has some wrong views concerning sex. They believe it somehow makes you less pure, even in the context of marriage.

However, the problems with the The Da Vinci code is much more than whether or not Jesus married and had kids. It basically says that all of Christianity is a lie and a cover-up. It offers "proof" of many of its theories by flat out lying about a lot of historical events, claiming that their version is correct, although anyone with a library card can find out differently.

The Da Vinci code is full of lies, calls them facts, and tries to discredit Christianity. It weaves this attack on Christianity around an entertaining novel, so that they can keep saying, "It's just fiction" when confronted with the truth. However, the novel starts of with the word "FACT," and begins to tell you one lie after another, making you believe that this is all based in fact.

It would have been unusual indeed for a Jew in his thirties to be unmarried. Jesus was fully human - that doctrine has been decided for 1700 years now - and it is not unreasonable to suggest that Jesus married and had a family. The fact that Jesus's family is not mentioned does not constitute proof that Jesus was unmarried.

If true, this would cause some new questions to arise. Are there descendants of Jesus alive today? Should they play some special role in Christianity? Were they born with original sin? Do they require the saving grace of their ancestor's death? Why was knowledge of Jesus's family repressed? What was the role of the early church in keeping this information under wraps?

Hi Billy.

What people need to understand is Jesus Christ came to earth for a specific reason and it did not involve this type of relationship.
John 3:16 For God loved the world so much that He sent His uniquely born Son so that whoever believes in Him shall never perish but have eternal life.
.As the son of man ,Christ took on the likeness an outer form of man Phillipians 2:7.
He had been known from all eternity as God ,but now He was focusing on that which was new and must be understood-His humanity Mathew 1:25.
He was God and man in the one body the unique God man.
Hope this helps.
Take care!

Its not that if Jesus had children it would be bad, children are wondeful and a gift from God, but, the author who wrote the da vinci code a very un-Godly man and wants to see Christians go down, he hates Christianity he is inspired by the Devil. The reason why us Christians have such a problem with the Da Vinci Code is because its completely blasphemous and goes against everything the Bible says.

No offense taken.... there is no harm in honest curiosity..

A review of the entire Bible will show that Jesus never said don't get married... and he never said don't have children... so he would not be contradicting himself to have done either of these things.

Many people find this possibility a disturbing development because they have trouble reconciling the fine line between Jesus's divinity and his humanity.

Have we forgotten that a BIG part of the reason Jesus was here in the first place was to experience the human condition??? The gospels record that Jesus understands what it is to be hungry and thirsty... he understands what it is to be tempted to do something he knew he shouldn't do... he understands what it is to be lied on... he understands what it's like to lose a loved one... he understands what it's like to be betrayed by someone close to you...

So is it really so outlandish to believe that he full immersed himself in humanity?

If Jesus was sent here to show that he could face the trials that any mortal man goes through and set an example, then he would have HAD to get married and raised children to show how to bring up a child in the right way and how to be a good husband, just as he demonstrated the rest of life. I don't see how his teachings could be complete if he didn't show us...and if all he did was say it, then it's a bunch of hearsay.

I believe that he is God who became man, with the purpose being to reveal God to us and most importantly to give his life as our payment for rebellion and sin.
His purpose, and his love to the point of death in our place is
sacred, and the most meaningful of all events ever.
There is reverence that is to be given, and respected. His, and Father God's plan was perfect for us - it hurts that it has been edited or made to be something it isn't. And I can only hope that it was not done for raising interest and selling books. - that is the concern those who love Jesus have. He is the most wonderful of all, and while I don't dwell on it - it is like who he is is being defiled.

Thanks for a good question.

Jesus was Jewish. What's all this "Christ" business? Christianity was'nt even invented until about 113 years after Jesus, the King Of The Jews, died. If you went back in time, when he was on the cross, and mentioned the word "Christian", everyone would think you were crazy. Not unlike today.

Because, the Vatican holds a bunch of dudes in robes who think their better than people because for reasons, beyond me, they believe their closer to god. If there is a bloodline directly descendant from Jesus that means that their not awesome, their not all that close to god and then the people who are in their "flocks" might see them for the control craven, self important jackals they really are.

To respond to Imacman, you obviously didn't read the novel. The end kind of reinforces Chrsitanity. Before you slam something, you should maybe read it.
