I think the younger you are, the harder it is to make it work. Although I'm still fairly young, just not in comparison to all the 16 year olds on here (I'm 28). My boyfriend and I have been having a long distance relationship since he joined the Navy last November. I think what keeps it working it that we have both already experience the single life and satisfied our curiosities, and are ready to move into a different phase of our lives. We plan on having a future together, so I plan on moving to be with him soon. I think long distance is hardest when it is for years, and you don't know that you want to end up with the person.

Some people (like the person above me) feel like they need someone to be physically with them all the time. I don't feel that way. I'm not co-dependent and I don't want to date someone who is.

I agree with Sherbear...I am in a long distance relationship and it helps that we are older(I am 25 and he is 30)(I doubt that I would have ever even tried a long distance relationship when I was 16) and know what we want...We know that trust is very important and it is what makes a relationship work...no matter the distance...As long as both of you want the relationship to work...it will...you just have to put your whole heart into it and be very open and honest...

My boyfriend (now husband) and I dated for two years long distance before I moved to where he was. It was hard, but we made it work. We talked on the phone nearly everyday and also emailed/IM to stay in touch. Luckily he had a lot of vacation time from work, so he would come and visit once every 2-3 months for a week at a time. I went to see him a few times, but mainly he came to see me. (I was in college and he was already established in his job... it was just easier. And he could afford to fly more than I could!)

You are young so I say, no it probably won't work out for you. I think it works with some couples who have been together and then had to seperate for long periods of time because of job requirements, etc. Contact on the phone in am and pm, etc. helps the couples to stay in contact. Along with lots of weekend visits if possible.

the other answerer KKAT is right...the part about being older! i am 32 and my bf is 36....we live miles apart (he in scotland and me in montana). we met right here on yahoo back in feb..we have yet to meet in person but soon will. he is coming to meet me for the first time next month!...this has worked for us because we both want it! so trust and love have come naturally between us! if you and your bf are willing to do this...i see no problems..all relationships take work whether you live with the person or not......my bf and i also talk daily, be it on the phone or email or IM and now we have webcams which really helps! good luck to you!

Lots of trust, and how far and how long and how long apart really matter. I wouldn't do it. You need to go into it with an I don't care State of mined. "Helps"
