Can anyone tell me what a cat looks like when he has accidently electicuted himself by chewing on a pluged in cord? My cat is acting very strange and I am so scared! No jokes please, just serious answers.

Cats who have been electrocuted typically have burns inside their mouth, under tounge and on lips. If you think your cat has been get him to a vet immediately. Electrocution can cause a chain of events that quickly leads to accumulation of fluid in the lungs, causing difficulty breathing and ultimately death if untreated. Check the house for signs of chewing, if found go IMMEDIATELY

From my point of view, the word, "electrocuted" which is what I think you mean by your spelling of the word, "electicuted" means that the animal or person has died from a severe electric shock.

Your cat may have actually received an electric shock from biting into a "live" cord, and if so, should settle down in a while.

I've had cats chew through lamp cords before. They got shocked but were OK. Have one cat that did it twice.Use common sense. If the cat is not acting normal, take it to the vet. In the future, try to hide the cords away from the animals so this isn't repeated.

Sit near him and examine him. If it was serious he would be gone.... by now probably.... You can vet him because it might be other things. Keep a watch on him for at least 2-3 hours if you can a close eye. Try getting him or her a drink. It could be many other things but I hope its OK.

Look all over the cat for red marks , cuts anything like that. It could even be fleas.

call the vet, they usually have an answering service, and they will call you back. Otherwise check to see if he is acting like a drunk person, and check the roof of his mouth and the pads of his feet for burn marks. I have had dogs that have chewed and electrocuted themselves and in a couple of days they are fine, but I would still call the vet. Good Luck

I've never seen anything like that (except on that stupid Chevy Chase Christmas movie) but I would take the cat to the vet asap.

Did you find chew marks on a cord? I'd say take it to the vet.

The act drunken sometimes or lethargic...walk in circles or can't walk at all and make odd head movements usually. Sometimes foam at the mouth or costantly open and close their mouth because they are bothered by burns from the electrocution.

This is no joke. Your cat will probably lay on the floor in a nonresponsive heap of smoking fur.
