No one can demand respect...you may be able to coherse it...but it will not be genuine. Behave in a way which commands respect, be truthful and act with pure intention. It is said that a great leader is also a great follower.

Respect is something that is earned and you have to show it to others in order to get it. You simply cannot demand respect from others if you don't show respect to them in turn. Be polite, say positve things to others. Show that you are a stand up kind of person--and people will come to respect that and show it to you.

To get respect you need to first respect yourself then respect others. If after you have done this and they still don't respect you... They have no true respect for themselfs.
