Ready for a shock??? NO... I don't think violent TV cartoons are harmful. (hear me out before you threaten me).
The cartoons are not harmful... what IS harmful is the fact that parents let their children watch violent shows and movies. Television has become an in-home nanny and so many parents pay from little to no attention to what their children are watching. Then these children grow older and display violent tendencies, and society (including those parents) want to blame the entertainment industry.
Did you see the movie "Hostel"? What about "Saw"? Or most recently "See No Evil"? (Kinda makes me wonder about the people at Lionsgate). Even though these movies were Rated R by the MPAA, parents has children in the theater watching these extremely violent, extremely gorey films. What in the world would that do to a child's psychological development???
And then the parents would want to blame the movie makers...
No... entertainment isn't harmful... the real harm is disinterested parents.

Yes. Watching television is harmful. Even if all you watch is re-runs of Sesamee Street and Mr Rogers. But I know that 99% of American christians watch it. Sometimes it affects us in ways that we cannot acknowlege, but it does its' damage. Think about it. The kings of centuries past never had as much "entertainment" as we have today. Hours upon hours are wasted as we sit there before the tv. Prayer has been forsaken. Heavenly communion with our Father is more or less GONE. It is destroying us humans.
I know, I know, lots of ministries reach out all over the world via tv. Thats good. Let those souls that know not the Lord watch and learn of God and the price that Jesus paid. But let us, the redeemed, throw the one eyed monster out of our homes. Let us make our homes something they have probably never been. A sanctuary from the effects of the world. Let us place an alter of prayer where the tv alter use to be. I've said enough.

I don't believe it's video games and television that cause people to commit harmful acts. I think the person must be a harmful person to do that, and they probably like violent cartoons and video games. It's nature, not nurture, in this case.

No. I grew up watching Popeye, Road Runner, Marvel Super Heroes, and several other "violent" cartoons. I don't think I was harmed.

Yes I do think they are harmful, though not in a way that would make kids act out in violent behavior. But I think it desensitizes them to the point that they are not disturbed or bothered by violence. In fact, I think that's what has happened to most of us.

Why would you take cartoons serious anyway? If cartoons are personally "harming" you, then simply change the channel.

Yes. Not only cartoons, but video games and movies as well.
Especially for children. I know it sounds silly but I will not allow my children to watch The grim adventures of billy and mandy because of Grim being the grim reaper. I do not like the message they are sending to children.

No, but like all things, young children need to have parental guidance and to watch things that are age appropriate. Parents don't take an active enough role in kids' lives these days.
