You don't say how old you are. In some few states there are no, or no realistic, barriers to marriage between a male (adolescent or older) and a girl past puberty. Parental, and sometimes judiicial, approval is needed. See, e.g.: Amy Argetsinger, Girl, 13, marries into controversy; Arundel says it's legal, but critics say it's child abuse, The Washington Post, Sept 29, 1998 pA1 col 1 (27 col in). The older you get the less it matters.
Sometimes the male may be prosecuted in anther state: be careful. See the NY Times article linked below.

It would be helpful to know how old you are. How well do you communicate now? Do you enjoy the same things? Are you both mature adults with reasonable intelligence and expectations? Have the two of you discussed the age difference? Have you discussed the really important issues and been in agreement on such things as honesty, fidelity, total commitment to each other, trustworthiness? Are you on the same page spiritually? Are you ready to be loyal to each other? Do you have good work ethics? Are you in agreement on having or not having children? Do you share the same goals and dreams for a future together? A lot of things are more important than a birth date!

I'm going to marry a guy who is 8 years older than me. I love him, he loves me, so what's the problem? We think on the same level..it all depends on if you two are on the same level, don't worry about what society thinks of you.

It depends on how old you both are. If she is over twenty-one, it doesn't matter if you are eight years older, but if you are 24 or 25 and she is only 16 or 17 I would say you have a problem. It is good for men to be older because women mature faster than men.

Why would age make a difference? If you love her, enjoy being together, have similar values, like the same things, share dreams for the future then age differences disappear.

If she is of age, mature, and truly in love with you then the answer is yes! My husband is 12 years older than I am. We never think of the age difference until someone brings up something about a specific year. (Ex: "Remember when the Space Shuttle blew up?" My husband was in high school when it happened. Me? I was in Kindergarten.)

If you are both legal what is the problem? Is it really your age that you are worried about or is it something else?

That depends on how old YOU are.
Different states have different laws regarding the age of consent.
If you are over the legal age of consent, and shes not, then you legally cant, unless she has her parents consent (permission)

As long as she is of legal age, my wife is 16 years older than me and we've been doing just fine for 6+ years.
