I hate the idea of having a singer, it adds to much stress...but my mom really wanted me to have her sing so I'm doing it for her. It's an outside wedding.

First, you need to find out what songs you and your future husband like and that are meaningful to the two of you and then pick one of them.

One song should be enough, she could sing it while you are lighting your unity candle (if you're having one), after you exchange rings or right before your pronounced as husband and wife. If you want her to sing two songs, she could sing the second one as you leave the area.

A few things to consider...the singer is going to need a microphone so she can be heard over the background music and ambient noise. If she's a bad singer, people will notice. And finally, the more you add to your service (songs, readings, etc) the longer the ceremony becomes. If it is overly hot, cold, or rainy on the day of your wedding people will not want to sit in the sun/cold/rain for an extended period of time.

What types of songs are you looking for?

I don't enjoy hearing people sing live at churches or receptions only because I'm a hyperactive obsessive compulsive when it comes to live music, afraid for the person to screw up and once they do, I get embarassed for them...I'm going to stick with a dj, so I don't have that problem.

If it's love songs/slow songs, I think those would be best for a wedding. Celine Dion, The AT Last song by Etta Jones, ask her too, she might be a great resource to songs being she is a singer.

Congrats and Good Luck!

If your wedding is in a church, you might have to have the music approved by the priest or pastor. Check that out before you choose your music. Sometimes they will give you a list of "approved" music to choose from. Usually, the pastor will let you know where the best places for the solos are. If it is a church wedding, one religious song and one secular song is a good choice. I honored my mother -in-law by letting her choose the religious song, she picked the one done at her wedding. Have a wonderful wedding.

try looking up lyrics to "I'm your lady" or maybe its just "lady" by Celine Dion.

very appropriate song for the bride to dedicate to her groom.

or> if your old fashioned, try dolly partons "i will always love you"
also sang by Whitney Houston

another idea is "i wanna love you forever" by jessica simpson.
very beautiful song.

hope this helps;)
