Sure, why not? If he's that shy, then take the initiative yourself. Just say something like, "I had a good time when we went for coffee. We should get together again." At least that way he knows you're interested, too.

Did you get his number? Maybe call him and ask him out for more coffee or a slice of pizza. Did he approach you first, or was it at a social gathering you meet. I think a lot depends on that. I would be bold and ask him out if it is possible. Just be yourself and say hey I would like to get together and have an ice cream some time are you busy on thursday or something like that. He might be financially challenged at this time. Tell him the ice cream is on me. Or he is not sure if you are a womens rights person and can pay your self.

I suggest you read the book "He is just not that Into You" It's by Greg and LIz something form the Sex and the City. It's a must-read. A brutally frank book that will tell you what you just need to hear and yes, the answers you are looking for are definetely in there. For starters, in essence it says "If a guy likes you, there is nothing in this world that can stop him form being with you."

He called you, so he is interested. If he didn't set up a date, he probably was just afraid of looking desperate, or he just didn't have the opportunity, or he is waiting til he knows exactly what to ask you out to do. Don't worry about it, just let it happen if its supposed to. And remember, he IS shy, so it he may take it real slow.
