there is a womens "version" if you will, the tour de feminine, also a womens version of the vuelta (spains multi day tour) and the Giro (Italian). these are multi day stage tours, all womens teams.

There actually was a woman who raced in the Giro something like 50 years ago. But the true champion of womens cycling, our Lance if you want is Jeannie Longo

I Dont Think there is any restriction on whether the women can take part in the Tour De France or not. But even if any women manages to take part, it will be very difficult for her to finish all the stages of the Tour because it is a true test of Character,Endurance and it can be a very gruelling ride.Even some men are not able to finish it off.So, to round off, it is nothing about inferiority or the women being weak, but it is difficult for women to take part in the Tour de france.

Go question. I don't really follow the sport except during the "Tour". But like any other sport men and women usually don't mix with the exception of golf and tennis.

To qualify they would have to be top level professionals. A rider has to compete successfully at lower levels before making the Tour. I don't believe there are any women can compete at the lower levels, let alone make the top 200 riders.
