My daughter uses Bag Balm and loves it. There is a product on the market called Lidocaine with aloe. It is sort of creamy. I use it for many things but when my best friend was over with her 19th month old son He wet his pants and started screaming. Then she started crying and told me that he had this rash for 2 weeks and nothing not even desityn was working and when she put ointment on him he was crying so hard he lost his breath. The doctor had given her some cream but it just didn't work.

I got my tube of Lidocaine with Aloe and changed his diaper for her. When I first put it on he still screamed for a minute or so (lidocaine does sting for a few seconds) he stopped crying and was happy as could be. She used this for 2 days and the rash was gone. Of course it was the aloe that helped the rash, but the lidocaine made it bearable for him and consequently for her.

Also, there is a product made for babies called Dyprotex.
it comes in six individual pots with a round very soft sponge. You dip the sponge in the pot and pat it on the baby's hiney butt. It prevents you having to use a finger that will pull the skin and make it more painful. This is what I used when my babies were little. When I used it I would always say "pat pat pat pat" so my boys started calling it the "pat pat medicine". When they were old enough to talk a little -- as soon as I started to change their diaper, if they had a rash they would say "pat pat medicine momma, pat pat medicine"

Anyway, either of these products should help unless your baby has an infection. In that case please take him to your Pediatrician now, he's in pain and neither of these two products will help.

Good luck -- Give that sweet one a kiss on the cheek for me! (uh -- the upper cheek please! lol)

Wow, another whining , blaming Dem / Obama hater :( as IF medical and insurance companies , hospitals, doctors , pharmaceuticals are not greedy & also to blame for the high costs , limited care ,etc which have been ridiculously high, outrageous for a very long time , waaaay before Obama so your whining and blaming is as MOOT & FOOLISH as is any other - Dem or Rep ! What did you think politicians were going to cut off some of the political fund raisers, that doctors, insurance co's were going to take cuts, save money ... to suit the needs of the PEOPLE .. LOL ! You can always OPT OUT from the Cancer Care , which is what a lot of smart people are doing beings it's not about caring & curing but lots n lots of money for hospitals, docs & pharmaceuticals, etc. It's ridiculous what is charged for things like major medical care. I'd also be happier if Medical Care was not freely, " Given " to ANY, ILLEGAL, of any kind , many of which need to be " Deported " ;) !

Could be a yeast infection. Take her to the doctor. They will prescribe some heavy duty cream for it that will clear it right up. Until then, just make sure that her diaper is always dry. Change it at least every hour and keep her lubed up well with ointments. You can also try aquaphor. That stuff works wonders on just about every skin issue.

Careful, some ointments can really sting on a rash. If you call your local pharmacist they carry a cream, its called triple paste, i I think, its like 10 dollars for a little tube but it works wonders. Even though it is sold at the pharmacy you dont need a prescription. Most Doctors have a line to call at night. Call them and tell them you need them to fax a prescription of Nyastatin to you pharmacy. Nyastatin is a prescription ointment.

aside from the ointments that were mentioned already, i'd also make sure to give your child plenty of "bare bottom" time (if that's where the rash is). Let him/her play while diaper free and naked (play outdoors if the weather permits, or on a linoleum floor, if you are concerned about potential accidents). Airing things out can help slow/stop the bacteria that thrives on dark, wet, and warm areas.

hope that helps!

What you need to do is consult with his or her pediatrician. You could be aggravating the rash, by applying all of the over the counter or home remedies. Sometimes somethings just need to be handled by a expert.

Bag Balm. It comes in a green tin and you can buy it at any pharmacy. It was actually made for chapped cow utters, but it will work wonders on any kind of rash or dry skin.

One of my children suffered from a bad rash that not even the prescription that the doctor gave me wouldn't cure it. We'll finally I just changed her brand of pampers and eventually the rash started clearing up. Maybe you need to change your childs pampers.

Try cornstarch. If diaper rash treatments are not working, it could be a yeast infection. Try feeding her some yogurt, but if it does not clear up I would ask your pediatrician. Good luck!!
