Eco-tourism is a really good way to help people who live in fragile ecosystems to earn money without destroying the forests or other environments they live in.
One possible negative is that these tours are often expensive, so they become a way for rich people (who cause a lot of the destruction either directly or indirectly) to make themselves feel better.
Another possible negative is that the people who live in such areas become involved mostly in service sector jobs such as waiters or maids or guides, rather than as managers or people with some influence over how their lives will develop.
Still, all things considered, I am definitely in favor of responsibly managed eco-tourism.
