Google Grove gearboxes they have a pretty good catalog online.

I can't imagine why you would design something you can buy off the shelf. It's a little bit like re-inventing the wheel.

Gearboxes have gears and if you going to use standard gears you should be able to find a comercially available gearbox.

If you intend to design gears better get an Mech Engr handbook. And you are a glutton for punishment. Design gears and gearboxes is not very fun.

I am not sure about your pc type whether it is a desktop or palm pc but I generally go to the site below for my engineering books requirement...may be you find it of some use...
